Artist's Description
Mitochondria are organelles that exist in all eukaryotic cells, including the cells of all human beings. They metabolize food using oxygen and turn it into energy that keeps life going. The mitochondria travel through the cytoplasm of their host cell but have their own DNA, separate from that of their host.
